Eight Health Care Principles for Computer User

Abstract: using computer for a long time will cause functional disturbances of central nervous system and autonomic nervous system with symptoms including headache, low spirit, insomnia, palpitation, sweaty, anorexia, nausea, fatigue. Therefore, computer user should pay more attention to health care.
According to the statistics, among the frequent computer users, 83% of them will feel eyestrain; 63.9% of them will feel should and waist soreness; 56.1% of them will have headache; 54.4% of them will lose of appetite. Therefore, computer user should pay more attention to health care.

1. Avoid using computer for a long time. You had better use computers less than 4 hours and take a 10 to 15 minutes outdoor activity during every other hour.
2. Take the right position. You had better choose chair that can be altered the height and you should sit up with upright waist leaning to the back of chair to keep the most comfortable position. The inferior border of the computer should be 20 cm lower than the parallel line of eyes, and the superior border of the computer should keep balance of your forehead. The distance between the computer and your eyes should be 40 to 50 cm. Try to look at the front horizontally with your eyes which can relax your neck muscles and decrease the exposure area of your eyeballs to the minimum degree. The height of keyboard should be flexible which had better can straighten your eyes. The elbow had better be at ninety-degree angle and your head slightly leans forward with shoulders relaxed to keep a natural and comfortable position. Your operation should be gentle. The documental holder had better be put at the same height and same dimension as the screen.
3. Keep a good environment indoor. The temperature and humidity indoor should be appropriate with temperature at 21 centigrade and humidity 55% to 60%. When the weather is dry, you can put some flowers or a pot of water in door. If your computer keeps on for a long time, the positive ion released by the screen will attach the negative ion around you like magnet and so cause you headache, stuffy, frustrating. Therefore, when the weather is good and there is no harm to the computer, you should open the widow regularly for ventilation and air change to rule out of the positive ion and other harmful air indoor and increase fresh air and negative ion indoor.
4. Light indoor should be appropriate. Lighting indoor should be soft and not too bright or dark. The screen should be at ninety degree with window and do not face the widow or behind the window. There should be curtain or window-shades in the window to avoid the light being shoot at the screen directly.
5. Protect your eyes. The radiation of computer will harm your eyes and cause eyes feel dry and tired. In order to reduce the harm, you should: (1) go outdoors to look in the distance every one hour; (2) do eye exercises; (3) have more food with vitamin A and carotene B, such as liver, egg, fish, meat, milk, carrot, spinach, Chinese wolfberry, and so on to supplement consumed rhodopsin in retina.
6. Keep your skin clean. There are a lot of static electricity when turning on the computer which will absorb the dirt and dust and these dirt and dust will fall on skin and block the pores; the radiation generated by computers will make skin dry and erythema, red spot. Therefore, you should clean your face and hands and other exposed parts thoroughly after work.
7. Do not eat anything when operating computer. Many people have contacted your keyboard and you should not eat anything in order to prevent disease coming from mouth.
8. Diet regularly and have more water. Have a good breakfast with sufficient nutrition. Have food with rich protein, such as birds, egg, fish, meat and soybean products in lunch. Dinner should be mild. Have more fruit and vegetable. Have more tea and tea polyphenols in green tea has the effect of anti-radiation.
